Dr. Leonel Perez is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Center for Dentofacial Aesthetics in Annandale, VA and serves as the program director at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice at the University of Texas at San Antonio and his Master of Science at the University of Texas–Pan American. Afterward, Dr. Perez went on to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he obtained his doctor of dental surgery and doctor of medicine degrees. It was at that same university that he went on to complete a one-year internship in general surgery, followed by his oral and maxillofacial surgery training.
Dr. Perez has close to a decade of experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His areas of expertise include orthognathic surgery, craniofacial surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery and reconstruction, bone grafting surgeries, facial trauma reconstruction surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, and cleft lip and palate surgeries. With his combined education and research, Dr. Perez has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed surgical journals and has given many presentations over the past years.
