You can't always avoid accidents. For example, you might trip or bite into something hard that chips your tooth. Your tooth might also get stained by certain foods, drinks, or an illness. This is why Dr. Harshit Aggarwal and Dr. Leonel Perez perform dental bonding, a treatment used to correct these small cosmetic flaws. An easy, effective process, dental bonding uses composite resin to mask discoloration, fill gaps between teeth, lengthen a tooth, or even improve the shape of a tooth. For an effective way to improve your teeth, schedule a consultation at the Center for Dentofacial Aesthetics in Annandale, VA to learn more about dental bonding.

- Needs only minor enamel reduction, maintaining the existing tooth structure

Am I A Candidate for Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding may help with cracks, chips, gaps, discoloration, tooth length, and more. Bonding is a more affordable cosmetic treatment and can usually be performed in a single appointment. It also doesn’t need prep work like crowns or veneers; however, it is not as strong and typically does not last as long. Dental bonding is good for minor cosmetic flaws, but if you require bigger improvements, a different restorative or cosmetic treatment may be better. During your appointment, Dr. Aggarwal will listen to your needs and concerns and then discuss your best treatment options.
What Can I Expect from Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding can usually be performed in one visit in our office in Annandale, VA. You should not need any anesthesia, but sedation options can be discussed during your consultation if you have any fear, anxiety, and a strong gag reflex. As soon as you are comfortable, Dr. Aggarwal or Dr. Perez will apply the bonding material to the desired teeth with the help of one of their dental assistants. The composite resin will be hardened before more layers are added. After the layers of composite resin are done, the filling material and your natural enamel will be polished for an even finish.
What Should I Expect after Dental Bonding?
After bonding and contouring, you should refrain from consuming staining food and beverages (like tobacco, coffee, and tea) for 48 hours. The bonding material can stain and chip, so do not bite down on hard objects such as ice cubes, pens, and fingernails, and brush your teeth as soon as possible after eating. Bonded and contoured teeth need to be cared for like natural teeth with regular flossing and brushing. Bi-annual cleanings at Center for Dentofacial Aesthetics will help to remove stains from the composite resin. With ideal care, dental bonding may last up to ten years. During your annual dental exam, we will help you decide if your bonding and contouring procedure should be done again to refresh your appearance.

Great tooth cleaning
Top dentists and great staff!
Very skilled staff in a friendly, welcoming environment. Highly recommend!
Dr. Harshit Aggarwal is a miracle worker! Yesterday was my 10th appointment with various dental professionals trying to either remove a stripped implant screw or lessen the pain and cuts it was causing. Multiple dental professionals have drilled it for hours, and gone so far as ordering a special toolkit and getting the product company headquarters to try and coach them through trying to remove that screw. One time I paid a dentist for an expensive temporary crown (that insurance did not cover) to cover the sharp screw head that my periodontist had left unexposed, which was cutting me. I had actually planned to have the entire implant removed with an expensive and painful surgery. But Dr. Aggarwal was able to remove that dang screw within 45 minutes and also keep my implant intact. This saves me a lot of future dental work and expense. He is also very friendly and happy to explain things and answer questions. His staff is also friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this office.

About UsDental Bonding FAQs
How long does dental bonding last, and what can impact its longevity?
Dental bonding typically lasts anywhere from 3 to 10 years, depending on the individual's oral habits and the location of the bonded tooth. Factors that can impact the longevity of dental bonding include chewing on hard objects, grinding or clenching teeth, and poor oral hygiene. Regular dental check-ups and proper care can help maintain the appearance and function of the bonding.
Can dental bonding be repaired if it gets damaged?
Yes, if dental bonding gets chipped or damaged, it can usually be repaired or touched up. It's essential to contact your dentist as soon as you notice any issue so they can assess the damage and determine the best course of action. Repairs can often be done quickly, restoring the appearance and function of the bonded tooth.
Are there any special dietary restrictions to follow after getting dental bonding?
While dental bonding is durable and allows you to eat most foods, it's wise to avoid certain items that could cause damage. Hard or sticky foods, such as ice, hard candies, or chewy caramels, can potentially chip or dislodge the bonding material. Discussing your diet and eating habits with your dentist will provide specific guidance tailored to your individual situation and bonding treatment.
